Class Details

In this intermediate-advanced Photoshop class, Rob Andrew will walk you through his process for retouching a portrait. The process will include – 

1. Dodging and burning for facial contouring
2. Philosophies of where and when to crop a portrait or headshot
3. Frequency separation retouching (retouching skin without loss of texture or an over-processed look)
4. Blending skin tones and taking care of tan lines
5. How to create and save actions to automate tedious tasks
6. How to handle common issues like under eye bags and neck lines without ruining texture
7. Selective color balance and background cleanup
8. Extracting a subject from the background
9. Rob will discuss concepts of magazine vs. commercial vs. retail retouching

We will also be tackling your individual Photoshop questions and providing an overview of all the basic controls. Handouts and sample images to work on will be provided if you weren’t present for the morning studio class. A USB port for a flash will be required. Please bring a fully charged laptop with Photoshop installed. Handouts provided, but note taking is highly encouraged.

Please Note:

• Bring your chargers and make sure Photoshop is fully working on your laptop!
• Students taking this class should already know the basics of Photoshop including adjustment layers and how to use basic tools (clone stamp, brush, healing brush, lasso, etc)
