Class Details

This class is geared toward portrait and lifestyle photographers who want to learn some more advanced retouching techniques. Before taking this class, students should have a solid understanding of the basic tools in Photoshop and how to use layers. Students should also understand basic file types and sizes before attending this class. If you shoot RAW and already do some basic Photoshop work but are ready to go to the next level this class is for you! We will work on 2-3 portraits together as a class so everyone can learn hands on. Topics will include

1. How to retouch skin using frequency separation (and when to use it).
2. Three different methods for dodge and burn retouching.
3. How to retouch skin while preserving texture and detail.
4. Sunburn and tan line repair.
5. Enhancing eyes and teeth.
6. How to create and save actions to automate tedious tasks.

We will also be tackling your individual Photoshop questions as much as possible. Handouts and sample images to work on will be provided. A USB port for a flash drive will be required. Techniques covered will be compatible backwards to Photoshop CC 2015 and in some cases older versions. CC or higher is recommended. Please bring a fully charged laptop with one of these versions of Photoshop installed. Handouts provided, but note taking is highly encouraged.

Please Note:

• Outlets will be provided and YOU MUST HAVE PHOTOSHOP INSTALLED before you arrive and please have your chargers.
• Photoshop Elements is okay but you will not be able to follow one or two of the topics, such as creating custom actions.
