It’s time to take that next step and take your flash and light outdoors! It’s as simple as  adding one light and evening out the artificial light and natural light! With the help of our instructor, Jon Campbell, toting over 20 years experience in photography, you will leave this workshop with a new understanding of how to light your outdoor images to produce natural looking images that will enhance your portfolios. You will have the skills to produce those images no matter where you are.

This meeting will address outdoor portraiture and using sunlight and flash-fill to obtain images with professional results. We will be using simple and effective lighting techniques using one-light setups that will make your images stand out from others.

We will start off in the studio with a Powerpoint presentation to bring us all up to speed. From there, we will go down to the beach to apply our new information.

Jon will supply a model for you to work with as well as Quantum Q-flash strobes for you to try out. The techniques we will use will apply to any lighting source you happen to have at your disposal. Jon will show you how to use a light meter to balance fill-flash with daylight to produce images with impact. The key is to get the flash off your camera to obtain three-dimensional results. It is not difficult, and Jon will show you how.

Please bring an SLR camera (digital if you have it). Also,  a Pocket Wizard or some remote means of  setting off  your flash would be useful. If you don’t have one, you may share one of mine.

*Please have already taken the Photography 102 class or be comfortable manipulating your camera’s manual settings.
