Learn to Shoot Macro, Micro & Close Up Photography - Cancelled

This hands on course opens up the world of close-up, macro and micro photography.  Learn techniques that allow you to capture flowers, dew drops, insects, and things that can’t be seen with the naked eye!

Macro Photography Class Details:

This class is perfect for anyone interested in learning how to get up close and personal with a subject. If you have a DSLR and a kit lens, we will show you how to get the most out of your equipment. Learn how to get closer than you ever thought possible to capture the detail of flower pedals, water droplets, and insects. This class is kept small so there can be more one-on-one instruction, providing you a great experience and lots of hands-on activities.

You will learn:

  • Composition – How to compose your image using the rule of thirds, get the maximum depth of field, explore micro textures, and creative backgrounds that make your subject pop out of the image.
  • Control your Camera – How to manipulate your camera manual mode to get the image you see in your mind’s eye.
  • Equipment Selection – How you can accomplish incredible images without spending lots of money.

Required Materials:

  • DSLR with a kit lens (50mm recommended or a zoom lens in that range i.e. 18-55mm)
  • Fully charged battery
  • Empty Memory Card
  • Pen & Paper
  • Creative Open Mind Ready to Learn

Optional materials:

  • Flash (limited flashes will be available)
  • Flash triggers or cable to get your flash off camera (limited sets of flash triggers and speed lights will be available)
  • Extension tubes (limited Canon and Nikon compatible extension tubes will be available)
  • Macro lens
  • Any gear or props you want to experiment or practice with

Ben Reeve is a professional photographer specializing in High School Senior Portraits and Street Photography. His passion is outdoor portrait photography using both natural light and off camera flash to create unique portraits for his clients. Always willing to share his knowledge of photography, he turned to educating others to help inspire others.
