Class Details

Guest instructor and filmmaker Thierry Denis has shot video for everything from large commercial ad campaigns to independent films and studio product video. Join him at his studio in Mission Valley to learn the fundamentals of video shooting!

Any camera with manual control and a video mode will be suited for this class! 

Whether you want to shoot a short film, record a training video, or simply document your vacation or child’s first steps, this class is made for you!

This is an Introductory Class that teaches new techniques to start using the video mode of your DSLR or mirrorless camera. The Video capabilities of your DSLR or mirrorless camera are now better than most dedicated video cameras . Once you are introduced and comfortable with it, you will have a fully loaded weapon around your neck, catching every photo and funny memory with both stills and video! 

Class time will be spent on covering the various aspects of videography with great tips and techniques to help make your story powerful!

After this class you will:

1. 1. Know how to compose your image and deal with depth of field, movements or focal length.
   2. Understand the video settings of your camera and hoe they relate to video frame rates and more. 
   3. Learn the concepts of using motion with and without sliders/dollies and other video tools.
   4. Get one-on-one help with your gear and how to set it up.
   5. Learn about stabilization methods and common video techniques
   6. Learn how video shooting differes from still shooting
